The Experience

Join us for a mountaintop celebration with a focus on content creation! This fall, we’re heading back up to our home away from home, The Cabins at Sandy Mush Bald, for our Fall Photo Experience. The trip runs October 28-30 and we are requesting $750 per guest which includes all food, lodging, gear rental, and a set of 10+ pro photos from the trip! We’ll begin the adventure with a meet and greet at Smoky Mountain Roasters, our favorite coffee spot in Waynesville, NC! After fueling up for the trip we’ll caravan to the trailhead (30 mins) and begin our approach to awesomeness. Together, we’ll enjoy the scenic 2.0 mile hike up to our rustic mountaintop cabins, stopping for breaks to explore the fundamental elements of photography along the way. Once we reach the top we’ll be welcomed by our hosts, Doug and Lucy, and get ourselves situated in the 2 available cabins. After settling in, we’ll reconvene in the main cabin for a wonderful meal prepared by our friends from Food for Adventures! After dinner we’ll kick start our digestion by hiking the half-mile trail up to the “Big Bald” for sunset. This private mountain meadow has a sunset view overlooking the infamous and overcrowded Max Patch area. We’ll revel in our solitude and laugh at the masses as we photograph the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains in peace! After golden hour we’ll hustle back down to the cabins to gather around a campfire, enjoy dessert and dive into an intro to night photography. Sunrise from the porch of The Cabins at Sandy Mush Bald is spectacular! We’ll wake up early to capture the scene and then enjoy copious amounts of coffee before sitting down to a BIG breakfast! During the day we’ll explore the property for creative compositions and sit down for a presentation on the porch to go over post processing for photos and discuss the ins and outs of the business side of photography. We’ll enjoy another warm meal from Food for Adventures before heading back up to the “Big Bald” for another shot at one of the Southeast’s most spectacular sunsets! Once it gets dark we'll head back down the mountain for another campfire session. On our last morning we'll wake up early to shoot sunrise, have one more big breakfast and revisit the information we've learned during the experience before making our way back down the mountain to the Trailhead by noon. You'll walk away from this experience with newfound friendships, a solid knowledge of photography and memories you will cherish forever!
